Anchor of Hope Vision Statement
“This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast.”
Hebrews 6:19
Anchor of Hope is a division of Compassion Acts for the purpose of providing funds for the needs of the disabled and those in extreme need. This will be a continuation of “love taking action.”
This arm will be administered by a committee of at least three members of Compassion Acts Team. The committee will receive applications and determine by a majority vote who will receive funds and how much. The recipient must have suffered a loss of income, have a medical disability that prevents him/her from working, or need finds for rehabilitation to enable the individual to go back to work. Checks will be written to the medical provider, rehabilitation agency, or to the appropriate agency to provide the needed service. Anchor of Hope can also pay for necessities such as rent, food and utilities. Under special circumstances if the committee is satisfied through sufficient documentation, checks may be written to the party in need of assistance.
Applications will consist of the name of the applicant, address, phone numbers, disability or need, and how the money will be used. Written documentation of the bill or debt to be paid is preferred. Also to be included will be a recommendation by a Compassion Acts (CA) member, an Encounters Network (EN) Board member, an EN staff member, EN ministry affiliate, EN associate ministry, or from a ministry EN has relationship with. Applications will be kept in the Compassion Acts office.
Funding can be a one-time gift or money distributed regularly over a period of time. Recipients will be reviewed on an annual basis. Funds can be solicited by letters, emails, word of mouth, though the EN website, CA website, EN and CA literature, audio-visual presentations, meetings and conferences.
This Anchor of Hope fund exists as a classification of the Compassion Acts banking account and check-writing will follow the procedures in place for Encounters Network and Compassion Acts.
